2048x1536
Apple just announced that their latest iPad will have a 2048x1536 pixel Retina display. Imagine, that's a total 3.1 million pixels in a full color IPS screen while 1080p has 2.9 million pixels only. It's quite the best resolution there is among the tablets so far. DAMN. HOT. HOT. DAMN.
So, is it worth the upgrade? If you are going to buy the iPad for the first time and you have every peso to spend, then you might find the "new iPad" a worthy purchase. For iPad2 owners, it might not be very practical to upgrade unless you're in love with retina display so much. So if you don't care about higher resolutions, iPad2 might be just right for you. Plus, you get to save 5K or so because I heard the iPad2 prices are going down soon.
Anyway, going back to the fun stuff... Before the announcement, people have been guessing how Apple will call their new iPad. They have been calling it iPad HD, iPad 2s, iPad 3 but trolling Apple just called it "the new iPad".
For what it's worth, Apple did not only improve the iPad's display, it also upgraded its processor to A5X. Its CPU is still dual-core. Only the GPU has been upgraded to quad-core. People might mistake it as having a quad-core processor. You know it's Apple, so their statements are quite misleading. I mean confusing. Sorry. :P

Very crafty, right?

My Sonnet 18: Matrixed
Hola, tinola!
I'm not a die-hard Shakespeare fan. I am really bad at poem interpretation. But for once, I want to make myself believe that I do appreciate sonnets... Hmm, just a tad. So, I came across a really awesome Shakespeare piece today. I bet Sir William would want to punch me in the face for describing his work as "awesome" but anyway...
Cool eh?
Meanwhile, here's my version of Sonnet 18:
Ha! Very artistic and pretty straightforward right? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Fact: Compare and contrast matrix is my second favorite tool next to Venn diagrams. These tools make my life easier.
Hi thee. :P

SONNET 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.
Cool eh?

Chicken, Moodle, Soup
So my first project for this year involves an opensource LMS. Basically it's just a web tool that manages a learning environment. We're just in the early stages of the development so I won't be able to share much about it. During the initial r&d phase, we needed to prove that the system can support the features presented to us. So we worked on a prototype.
I installed the package in both Windows and Linux (CentOS) and determined the capabilities of the system. I was also able to create custom modules, set the needed configurations and security settings, tailor the system according to the rules presented and more. After some studying and tweaking...
Voila!
We will be kicking off our actual development in a few weeks.
Even though everything is new to me, I'm really super excited. As in! The language is still the same but the rest of the frameworks and technologies that I will be using this year will be more challenging. Not that my tasks before were not challenging enough...there's just some significant learning curve that I have to deal with. If you know what I mean.
Anyway, I did realize one thing while I am on this shit: I'm a sucker for new things.
Like for real, for real. I mean, I love new things. I love learning and discovering new stuff. They make me happy... like a fat kid loves cake.
Yeah. Sorry for the 50 Cent reference. It sucks.I suck at writing. I don't even know why I am blogging. HAHAHAHAHA!
